Our team
Hokumanu was founded by Jim and Margot who have two complementary technical backgrounds. We both get our inspiration from our personal experiences as well as associations with numerous other professionals in other fields. Our goal is to grow and build a team to develop new cutting edge technological solutions. Hokumanu operates out of its office located in Kaneohe, HI.
James O'Donohue: Co-founder, Manager, RF Engineer
Jim's background includes over 20 years as a radio frequency RF) engineer operating his own communications business. He has built and maintained communications systems for police, fire, medical emergency services, FBI, BLM, schools, county communications , LTR trunking, CTCSS, DCS and more. Cylink microwave certified, RSSI tower certified. Jim also has extensive experience in the field building, climbing, and maintaining towers and is also a commercial FAA part 135 helicopter flight instructor with over 8,000 hours of pilot on command time. Margot Taylor: Co-founder, physicist
Margot's background is in astrophysics (BS from Penn State University) and has 7 years experience, previously working on many SBIR proposals and government awarded contracts including developing technologies for the Department of Defense, UAV sense and avoid technologies, infrared sensory technology and green energy systems. This includes experience in the lab and the field as well as developing software and analysis tools for such projects. Margot also is a pilot with 5000 hours experience. Certifications include helicopter, airplane, glider, paraglider, skydiver and flight instructor in both the US and Korea.
